Change your relationship to time with this simple class

New Time Class- Limited Room - March 4, 2013
Attention: Hurried, overwhelmed individuals with too much too do and not enough time to do it
Ask yourself: do you want to live your life in a constant state of hurry and worry?
When it comes to time, have you tried system after system but nothing works?
Or do you keep all your to dos in your head hoping you don't forget anything?
Or
worse, have a time system that takes so much time to manage you wonder if it's even worth it?
We all want to feel in control of our time, but how do you do it?
I'm
Beth Dargis and I've been teaching people how to simplify their lives
for the past 9 years. I first got organized and decluttered with the help of some
online friends. A group can really make the difference.
My goal
is to help you change your relationship with time.
Once upon a time I was working full time out of the home, with a family at home and numerous volunteer opportunities and hobbies. I was tired, stressed and one thought kept going through my mind, "I just don't have enough time."
This mantra has a tendency to seem real, whether or not it's really true. I was a rushing machine. But, it never seemed fast enough. I knew this wasn't the way I wanted to live life.
Help,
I have to many to dos and I don't know what to do next!
I thought Time Management was the answer. If only I could plan my time well enough and do enough multi-tasking, it would be "enough." I wrote articles with time tweaks and tips which help, but didn't solve the underlying problem.
I've gone through Franklin planners, Bubble planners, Day Timers, a huge monthly calendar, Remember the Milk, numerous online or computer time programs. But, I didn't stick with many long.
Why?
I didn't stick with any because when my to dos got to be so many, the program became overwhelming. So I'd quit and start fresh with a new program.
What I didn't realize was that it wasn't the program that was the problem. It was my whole relationship with time.
It's not the system
I am all about having systems to make your life easier. But in this case, until you get a handle on your relationship with time, all your systems will become overwhelming.
How many time systems have you used and became frustrated with?
Changing the relationship
For the past couple years, I have gone from seeing time as a tyrannical task master to seeing time as an abstract concept. It's fluid and subjective.
Now:
- I rarely rush even when I think I will be late.
- I no longer have to do lists that seize me up as soon as I look at them.
- I know the difference between Soft Time and Hard Time
- My priorities are actual priorities
- I listen to my intution more when finding my next to do
- I have quit my over-planning tendency
Just the other day a friend and I were lost in Grand Rapids, MI. She said, "I am so glad you aren't getting all upset that we will be late for the concert." Time just isn't a concept I like to get upset about anymore.

I'd love to help you change your relationship with time, too
We are becoming a world that seems too fast, too unkind, and too much. I feel sad when I hear everyone talking about how busy they are. Especially when I know it doesn't have to be.
We don't have to be so pressured.
What would your home life be like if you weren't worried about getting everything done this evening?
What passions and joys would bubble up if your mean to do list would be quiet?
What meaning and purpose could you see in your life beyond keeping busy and getting it all done?
How would your relationships feel if you were fully present rather than anticipating the next thing to do?
What could become of you and your life is you were able to listen to your soul?
“I have been a part of Beth's [declutter] program for a while, and one issue at a time, I make progress each time I join. It's fun and encouraging to work together like this. It reminds me of my mom and aunt helping each other out whenever our families visited each other. They had fun and got stuff done!"

This is Possible
I believe that no matter how busy it seems you are, we can find a way to bring more slowness, presentness, and meaning into your life.
But, it may not be easy. We'll be dismantling beliefs and taking on the ego.
This isn't a 10 Step Plan to Getting it All Done.
In fact, you'll find out you can't and probably don't want to get it all done.
We'll wrangle with technology and soothe ourselves with self-compassion. .

What others are saying about other classes:
"Taking the declutter workshop helped me see the areas needed to be worked on, actually making the time to do small steps and stick to my small increments as I felt accountable to the group. Lots of items were given away allowing my house and me to breathe. I feel better, have less stress and more energy! "
- Jo in Michigan |
" I was so happy with the support and encouragement that Beth showed! Daily check ins helped keep me motivated in areas where I had not succeeded before. The difference in my home was noticeable, and I love having a craft area back!"

“What a wonderful program! Not only did the Declutter Club keep me focused and accountable, it was also there as a means of support when the going got tough. The Declutter Club was instrumental in helping me create a habit of decluttering. I am really looking forward to the next group.”

Who is this course for?
People who are looking for more than a surface time management course.
People who feel overwhelmed with to dos and want to believe there is another path.
People who want more joy, fulfillment and creativity.
People who are tired of the life of going from to-do to to-do and not feeling the meaning in their lives.
How Long?
This is a 4-week class. We will meet in my online chat room for each class. The chat room is really easy to maneuver and it's good for those with dogs, kids and other noises in the background.
Classes are Mondays at 8pm Eastern (New York time). You will receive a transcript of every chat even if you can't make the class. You will be able to email me any time questions during the course as well.
Plus a workbook
Since this is the first time doing the class, you'll get a workbook after the class is done to cement what you have learned and go deeper into the information.
What ends up in the workbook will be partly what I am teaching and partly answering the questions you will have.
"You have taught me to believe in myself
and to take things slowly, one step at a time, keep sight of my goals,
both short term and long term. Your coaching style was both nurturing
and motivating, you seemed to intuitively know some days what I needed most.
Your caring and understanding was so appreciated and it came from the heart."
