Living
artfully might require something as simple as pausing. The
vessel in which soul-making takes place is an inner container
scooped out by reflection and wonder. –Thomas Moore

How are you doing on your stress management? Are you implementing
you stress relief action plan?
Fun
Do you love life? Are you enjoying every day? Do you wake
up in the morning enthusiastically? If not, maybe you need
to invite a little more fun into your life.
Maybe you think you just don’t have time for fun. Or maybe
you think it is a waste of time. But, you can fit fun into
just 5 minutes.

How much fun can you fit into a half hour? Things like
bike riding, reading, playing cards, scrapbooking, swinging
at the park, playing a board game, painting, sewing, playing
a computer game, buying a present, writing a letter, taking
a drive. What do you like to do? Do you plan any fun into
your evenings?
What about the weekend? Is it all about catching up from
the past week or do you take ˝ a day off to relax and have
fun. When was the last time you went to the beach, on a
nature walk, to a museum, kite-flying, to a flea market
or bookstore, played monopoly, worked on a jigsaw puzzle,
went miniature golfing or bowling, went on a picnic, went
out dancing, took the kids to the park, or had a spa night?
Fun takes planning just like anything else. Get your work
done so you can have fun. Don’t waste time watching boring
TV or going to committee meetings that don’t interest you.
Use your free time doing things you and your family enjoy.
Monday make a list of what needs to be done this week. Tuesday
read the newspaper or online to see if there is anything
fun going on in the next couple weekends that interests
you. What does your family want to do? Wednesday see what
plans are already in the schedule and what the kids’ activities
are. Thursday run your errands and do your grocery shopping.
Check the movie listings. Friday make sure everything is
done by 6:00 so you can enjoy yourself over the weekend.
Or some people do morning chores as a family on Saturday
morning then plan a fun outing for the afternoon.
Take Action:
- Make a list of fun things to do in 5 minutes
- Make a list of things that take from 10-30 minutes
- Make a list of fun things that take a half day
- Now plan to incorporate some of this fun into your month
