Creativity
I
am one who believes everyone is creative. Ideas and talents are in all of us.
My favorite creative pursuits are writing, scrapbooking, designing, and music.
Other people show their creativity in the kitchen or sewing room, garage or sports
arena.
Many of my creative disciplines I got from Julia Cameron's books
The
Artist's Way and Vein
of Gold. One of her suggestions is going on weekly artist's dates. These are
solitary jaunts to the museum, the galleries, to the beach, or anyplace else you
like to go. You can take in the entire experience without worrying about whether
someone else is having a good time or whether the kids are getting into trouble.
Schedule your 2 hour artist date for this week right now!
An important
part of creativity is timing. I find I can't create much after 4pm and am at my
best starting at 7am. What time is your best time to work? Can you make time to
create during that time, even if it is just the weekends.
Julie from OrganizedWriter.com
has a great way to jump start your writing. She calls it DRAW: D for a 5 min.
declutter, R for 5 minutes of reading time, A for assessing what you need to work
on and W for write. She has tons of great ideas for writers. What kind of ritual
could you make for your creative pursuit?
Don't deny your gifts, use them
to produce greater creativity and fullness to your life.
