Household Cleaning Schedule

 

DAILIES

Living Room:
Straighten
Vacuum if needed

Kid's Room:
Make Bed
Pick up clothes, books and toys

Kitchen:
Clear and wipe table
Clean counter
Clean stove
Take out garbage
Do dishes
Sweep floor

Bedroom:
Make bed
Pick up clothes
Straighten

Desk:
Sort mail and kid's papers
Make calls, write letters
Check e-mail
Clear off desk

Laundry:
One- two loads a day from sorting to
putting away

Bathroom:
Spray and wipe down
Straighten

WEEKLIES

Monday
Cleaning Day: Change sheets, cull magazines, dust, empty trash, 15 minutes of monthlies, scrub kitchen sink and stove

Tuesday
Office Day: Plan menu and grocery list, balance checkbook, write letters, do paperwork, 15 minutes of monthlies, make calls

Wednesday
Play Day: Library with kids, lunch with friends, clean out fridge, water plants, thank you notes, 15 minutes of monthlies

Thursday
Errand Day: Grocery shopping, post office, Target, and any other errands that need to be done, mop and vaccuum

Friday
Project Day: Bills, weekly review and planning, clean out car, clean out purse, get film developed, hand out allowances, farmer's market, scrapbooking, vacation/holdiay planning

Saturday
Family Cleaning Day: everyone pitches in for lawn care, washing cars, monthly cleaning and annual duties, family fun in the afternoon

Sunday
Family: No cleaning except for dishes and a quick pick up

 


MONTHLIES

All these are only if needed. And you may not get to them every month.

This is based on Pam and Peggy Young's system of zones. Week 1 would be the first days of the month whether or not it adds up to a whole month. Week 2 would be the second week. Week 5 will be the last week, whether or not it is a full week.

For example on the calendar below:

Week 1 is August 1-4
Week 2 is August 5-11
Week 3 is August 12-18
Week 4 is August 19-25
Week 5 is August 26-31

Week One-Outside/Porch/Laundry
Shake out rugs
Sweep porch
Decorate and declutter porch
Trim bushes
Clean car
Straighten garage
Yard clean-up
Fertilize garden
Wash out laundry baskets
Spray the top of the washer and dryer
Throw out empty bottles and empty the garbage in laundry area
Sweeep and mop laundry area
Change furnace filter
Put storage boxes in order


Week 2-Kitchen Clean drawers and cupboards
Clean inside oven
Clean inside fridge with baking soda
Scour sink
Run water through coffee maker
Check broom and mop
Clean door knob, light switch, lights
Extra cooking day(to put in freezer)
Declutter and Decorate
Wash down appliances
Reorganize cabinets and drawers

 

 

Week 3-Bathrooms and Office
Bathroom drawers
Hall Closet
Wash linens, bath towels and bath mat
Scrub toilet and bathtub
Check medicine cabinet
Towel shelves
Polish faucets
Lights
Mending
Declutter and decorate
Bookshelves in office
Mail holder
Desk Drawers
File paperwork
Clean up computer files
Make birthday cards
Plan holidays and get togethers
Dust computer and parts
Go through magazines
Declutter and Decorating

Week 4- Bedrooms
Under bed
Straighten clothes in dresser
Completely dust and declutter dresser
Clean closet
Straighten belts, accessories, jewelry
Straighten books on bookshelf
Vacuum under furniture
Linen closet
Clean light switches
Declutter and decorate bedroom
Kid's Rooms: Toy closet
Dresser top, refold clothes
Under bed
Bookshelf
Wash door and door knob
Lightswitches and lights
Declutter and decorating kid's room


Week 5- Living Room/Family Room
Dust bookshelves and entertainment center
Straighten entertainment center
Vacuum cushions and under furniture
Dust pictures
Wash woodwork
Wash light switches, and lights
Declutter and Decorating Wash door, windows, door knob
